Oak of righteousness

Many years ago when Rosie (not her real name) first started coming to Hope Health Center, I was  overwhelmed by all her medical problems and complaints.  It was like chasing rabbits.  You would finally get a good plan for one problem but then she would share another, and another, and another, wanting them all to be addressed at that visit.  When she returned for her next visit, she would have so many new complaints, that I wouldn’t have time to follow up adequately on the ones from the previous visit.
Finally during one visit I had time to ask her if she loved Jesus.  She responded with a beautiful smile and testimony that she could never have survived the abuse from her childhood and first marriage without Jesus.
She is now married to a man who also loves Jesus.  Their life isn’t easy, but they love sharing Jesus.  Often on Sunday afternoons, they can be found at a truck stop service plaza near Birmingham.  They are part of a team that ministers to truckers.  She plays the keyboard and sings, and her husband preaches God’s word as part of a church service they provide to truckers traveling on Sunday.  Her life is a wonderful example of how our God of HOPE can change ashes into something beautiful, “a planting of the Lord for the display of HIs splendor.”(Is 61)
