Recently, I have been moved by the incredible number of patients in our community who serve as caregivers for family members.  Most take on this unanticipated role with joy and patience that I admire.     
One of my long-time patients, Sylvia (not her real name), is a widow who has raised her 3 great-nephews in her retirement.  Sadly, Sylvia has just been diagnosed with a difficult cancer.  Each time we meet, she updates me on these boys and her hopes and fears for their futures.  I can see that their well-being is her primary motivation for treatment.
Pray with me for Sylvia, these boys and the many others who sacrifice as caregivers in their world of few safety nets.  Pray that we can continue to offer them the HOPE that Jesus offers and that we would love them with His compassion and wisdom.
