WOMEN AND CHILDREN

Women's Services

Hope Health Center strives to improve the health of women at every stage of life. We offer women excellent primary care, health screenings, professional counseling, and other programs to promote health and well being.

Through the Alabama Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program, eligible uninsured and underinsured women may receive free screenings at Hope Health Center including Pap Smear, pelvic exams, clinical breast exams, and referrals for mammograms free of charge.  Eligibility for this program is based on age, household income, and other health-related criteria.

Children's Services

Hope Health Center is pleased to provide excellent pediatric care for children and teenagers of all ages.  We provide exceptional primary care including well check-ups, vaccines, and vision and hearing screenings.

Through the Vaccines for Children (VAC) Program, children on Medicaid receive free immunizations to prevent the spread of childhood diseases. The VFC program is a federally funded program that provides vaccines at no cost to children who might not otherwise be vaccinated because of inability to pay.

Reach Out and Read

Reach Out and Read is a nationwide nonprofit organization that promote early literacy and school readiness in pediatric exam rooms by partnering with doctors to give new books to children and encourage families to read aloud together.

Doctors, nurse practitioners, and other medical professionals incorporate Reach Out and Read's evidence-based model into regular pediatric checkups, by advising parents about the importance of reading aloud and giving developmentally-appropriate books to children. The program begins at the 6-month checkup and continues through age 5, with a special emphasis on children growing up in low-income communities. Families served by Reach Out and Read read together more often, and their children enter kindergarten with larger vocabularies and stronger language skills, better prepared to achieve their potential.
